Combarro
Sometimes the stars align and you catch a perfect day. We have the rich banana bread for breakfast, work a little on the ramp for Cheuva and drive to Combarro, to see the Horreos. Those are the little Houses on legs, looking a little like stone coffins. They are in fact used for staple goods, like potatoes and other crops. The height keeps of bugs and moisture. Also it used to be a prestige thing, to show off how well you are doing. These things are everywhere, but especially in Combarro, where we are. The weather is beautiful and the low tide leaves the boats sleeping in the mud. Rich people and tourists roam and are catered, but it's off season so we are left alone.
We catch the sunset at the beach, as we are very very west. Next thing on dry land would be probably South Carolina or Florida. The dogs have a blast on the beach and watch with us as everything turns orange.
We check in a little village nearby, Vincente. Lu knows a bar right at the ocean, where she has had a few gigs before. There is a concert, guitar, contrabass, jazzdrums and vibraphone and the music is really great. I see a huge falling star, a late Geminid, on the drive home. We are starving, as we forgot to eat all day, but so happy.
